20% blog

Unfortunatly, I don't think I have learned anything to be honest because I'm still having a hard time finding something to do. I wanted to do something with recycling, but that was already taken. It's hard to find something after all this time. This month I've been searching for something to do and trying to figure out what i could do it's just hard because I don't have a clue and the things I would want to do people are already doing.

Should we raise min wage?

No I do not think that we should raise minimum wage. I don't think we should raise it because then things on there menu will go up and all the prices will get higher. Jack Anderson an entrepreneur says that if they "higher minimum wage then they can go bankrupt, everybody could lose there jobs and their life savings". Kevin A. Hasset and Michael R. Strain says that a "higher minimum wage is more expensive for firms to hire workers." They also said raising minimum wage increases the number of unemployed workers who could find jobs." Kevin and Michael "people who keep their jobs get more money; these who lose their jobs, of fail to get new ones, suffer." So I think it's better that they don't raise minimum wage and they keep it the same.

Stocks, trades, catalyst, dividends

Stocks are defined as a unit of ownership within a company, an example of a stock would be you could invest in a Target stock. When you trade a stock is when you invest in one and trade it in for another one, for an example I could trade my Target stock for a Walmart stock. Catalyst can be described as something that sets off a peak in stock prices, like during Christmas time LG stocks increase immensely. Dividends are an amount that you get back from the taxes of the company you invested in, after Target recieves their tax return I would get a part of them.

Lemonade Stand

To earn $100 in the Lemonade Stand in took me MANY trials and errors, I probably started over 13 times before I got it. Overall, it cost me about 12 cents to create one cup of lemonade. The perishable items included lemons (because they would spoil), ice (because it melted), and on the rare occasion sugar (because bugs got in it.) It took me awhile to get down how much sugar/lemons/ice I should buy since my sugar to lemonade ratio was usually around a 2:1. Weather definitely played a huge impact in the game, when it was 55 degrees out and rainy I realized it was better to put maybe one ice cube with more sugar and price it at 10 cents. On the other side of the spectrum, when it was 99 degrees I would put 10 ice cubes per cup and more lemons that sugar. Hot days was when I made most the income. Popularity I think had the littlest effect on the sales, I think it was more about the quality of the lemonade. I definitely think that the game was a good representation on how running a business works and an example of supply and demand.

December goal 20%

On my 20% project I haven't got anything really done. I'm having a hard time trying to think of something I could do, but my the end of December my plan is to hurry and figure something out buckle down and a lot done on it so I can catch up. By the end of December I'll have what I want to do and a lot done with it, if that's getting it started and doing what I need to do so people know about it.

Salary

I stared with 50,000 dollars for my salary. With the Bahamas they don't have income, corporate, capital gains, value added,or wealth tax. They do have payroll taxes fund social insurance benefits. The amount is 3.9% paid by the employee and 5.9% paid by the employer. So I took 50,000-(.039 x 50,000) I multiplied .039 x 50,000 and got 1,950 then I subtracted 50,000 and 1,950 and my net ended up being 48,050. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Economy_of_the_Bahamas

My stocks

I bought the buckle stock. The buckle stock is usually up and is always doing good. I bought it right before October because since the fall fashion is coming out then I new it was going to really go up since most people like there clothes especially the fall clothes. Every time there is a new season there stock goes up.my goal for my buckle stock I would like to keep as an investment. Buckle sometimes is down, but is usually up most the time. My other stock I have is verizon. I think it's a good stock because they are always making money, people break there phones and have to buy a new one all the time so there stock is up by a lot. I want to keep this stock as an investment because it always does good and my goal for this stock is that it will help me make most of my money.

Thursdays project

After kapptie gave us the rules and we were able to open the door we all ran in. As soon as I got in the room it was dark and noisy. Everyone was on the ground crawling around picking up as much candy as they could. As soon as all the candy was picked up everyone got in a spot and started sorting out there candy. Kapptie soon then putting up numbers on the board and keep doing this thought out the whole game while kids where going around trading for candy when the stocks would go up. As soon the game was over we counted up how much we had and who ever had the most won. It was very stressful because the stocks would go up and down all the time and you had to keep track.

20% project

My project is with Sierra Gwinn and we are going to be kinda like the big brother and big sister program, where we go to a daycare and play and talk to the kids. We are planning on talking to the kids especially if they have no older siblings to talk too. We want to be able to talk to the parents and be able to do activities to do even outside of school like one night being able to take them to a movie or something like that. In the month if September we have figured out what we want to do and what we need to get done by the end of October, by October we want to talk to the daycare and some of the parents about what our plan is and what we want to do and start getting to know the kids.

After highschool

After high school I want to move to Billings and go to college there to become a special ed teacher. While I'm going to school I plan in working at the Buckle. To pay for college I plan on having some scholar ships and it have some money saved up and if needed I will get a scholar ship loan. For new car I would want a Limited Ford Edge 2013, for a for edge it cost about 35,995. I would want to live in an apartment or a condo the average pay is for a single 2185 and for a double is 1790. For researching all of this I've learned that If I want all of this I'm going to have to have more then just a job at the Buckle at first.
